Free Supercharging for Ukraine

Well, Tesla does not technically have any Supercharges or official operations in Ukraine. Not sure why but that's a topic for another article.

According to our sources, Tesla is providing free charging in sections of Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary that border Ukraine, to help the thousands of people fleeing turmoil in Ukraine.

The charging stations revealed the news in an email to local Tesla owners, informing them of the free charging available to anyone in the area fleeing from Ukraine.

According to an email, Tesla has temporarily permitted "free Supercharging for both Tesla and Non-Tesla vehicles at stations in areas affected by the recent conflict in Ukraine." The service is accessible in four cities: Trzebownisko, Poland; Koice, Slovakia; and Miskolc and Debrecen, Hungary.

Tesla added in the email, "We hope that this helps give you the peace of mind to travel to a secure area." As an EV owner who has experienced range anxiety, I can't begin to imagine layering on top of that a raging armed conflict.

The news comes after Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of SpaceX, personally replied to a weekend request for extra Starlink stations from Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov. Musk said that the SpaceX Starlink satellite service has been enabled in Ukraine and that terminals were on their way.

Side Note: A few days ago, Tesla came through with a truckload of Starlink satellites for the Ukrainians. Bravo Musk...BRAVO 👏

Is the World Ready for a Lambo EV?

After leading Lamborghini to an all-time sales record for 2021 mostly due to extremely high demand for its ultra-luxurious Urus SUV — Lamborghini Chairman and CEO Stephan Winkelmann wants you to hold the applause.

Lamborghini's sales in 2021 increased by 13% over the previous year and I for one would like to think I had something (albeit quite small) to do with that success 😛:

So you can imagine my ears piqued with interest when I caught wind of an all-electric Lambo in the works.

Instead of Winkelmann basking in the glory, he is focused on guiding the iconic brand into the world of electrification – a strategy that appears at odds with a corporation recognized for loud, earth rumbling, gas guzzling engines, rather than efficiency.

Lamborghini is still trying to figure out how to power its vehicles with electrons rather than gasoline and what the whole experience will be like for its die hard loyal consumers.

"We're looking a lot into battery technologies and what kind of engines you need on board to produce a car that's ready for Lamborghini but also ready for the decade," Winkelmann said.

"We have the advantage of not having to be the first to adopt EVs," Winkelmann explained. That entails keeping an eye on what's going on and attempting to predict the future. It's a perilous situation, as EV technology evolves at a breakneck pace.

However, I would present the alternative view that is being at the forefront of electric vehicle technology has allowed Tesla to write the rules of the road and pretty much build the future of EVs according to Elon.

Lamborghini's first EV, according to Winkelmann, will be available in the second part of the decade and will not be a true supercar like the Aventador and Huracan. Instead, it'll be a flexible 2+2, four-seater, two-door coupe with greater ground clearance than you'd expect from a Lamborghini, except the Urus which is perfect for Urus lovers like me.

It will, of course, have the appearance and feel of a Lamborghini. If a Lamborghini that isn't a supercar seems like balsphemy, consider that the carmaker offered the Lamborghini Espada GT, a two-door coupe, from 1968 until 1978.

According to Winkelmann, the vehicle's design would be futuristic because it is an electric vehicle and highly aligned with Lamborghini's DNA. The powertrain will most likely deliver the performance that Lamborghini customers have expected from the car that sports the Bull. However, one critical component will be lacking - the rumble of its engine.

That's because this future Lambo EV will have no engines, only electric motors of which I assume there will be one for each wheel. However, that's all speculation because all we have to go by, is an awesome rendering that is currently floating around by an unknown creator.

In terms of ICEs, 2022 will be the final year for Lamborghini to deliver a non-electrified vehicle. It's only right that the start of the automaker's powertrain transition will coincide with the company's 60th anniversary in 2023.

Jeep's Electric SUV Scheduled for 2023

Stellantis' famed American brand, Jeep, has shown the first photographs of its future electric SUV. The business hasn't revealed any further specifics, including the vehicle's name, but it has confirmed that the new EV will be available in 2023.

We found an early test-drive.

Sorry, wrong image. Here you go 😂:

Jeep has been slower to adopt electrification than many of its competitors. The carmaker has already introduced plug-in hybrid versions of its Wrangler and Grand Cherokee SUVs, and it expects to release an off-roading version of the Grand Cherokee, the Trailhawk, with a hybrid engine.

However, the unidentified SUV that will be released next year will be Jeep's first completely battery-electric car. The carmaker has declared that by 2025, it will deliver "zero-emission" versions of all of its cars, as well as plug-hybrid models.

The new all-electric Jeep would be part of Stellantis's broad strategy to electrify the lineups of most of its brands, announced last year. Stellantis is a multi-national conglomerate founded last year when Fiat Chrysler joined with the French PSA Group. This comprises electric versions of the Ram 1500 pickup vehicle and a Dodge muscle car.

Another Side Note: Seems like everything in Russia is being hacked these days. A car charging station near Moscow was filmed displaying: "Out of Service. Glory to Ukraine. Glory to Heroes..."  Politics aside, this is trolling on a level that warrants a mention on Electric Daily. Check out the video below:
