The Terminator Goes Undercover as a Used Car Salesman

Kicking Gas is an edgy, funny series of movie shorts produced by the nonprofit Veloz for its “Electric For All” campaign—the largest and most inventive multi-stakeholder public-awareness campaign for electric cars in the United States, targeting Californians first.

“We chose humor—not fear or fury like some people—because negative emotions are burning people out,” said Arnold Schwarzenegger. “Humor, on the other hand, lights people up. Besides, we figure the world could use a little laughter just about now.”

In Kicking Gas, Schwarzenegger goes undercover as Howard Kleiner, a frustrated car salesman trying to push gas cars on unsuspecting customers who came looking for an electric car. Scenes captured by hidden cameras include the former governor donning a fake mustache and wig and surprising wouldbe customers.

“Tough guy Arnold Schwarzenegger has no problem making fun of himself. Imagine a world leader like that—willing to do what it takes for the greater good,” said Mary Nichols, who serves on the Veloz leadership team. “For some members of our unlikely coalition, this campaign is tricky and treads difficult territory. Change is hard. But everyone knows the future is electric, and California, for one, is committed to capturing the market advantage.”

Hyundai Drops a New Commercial for the IONIQ5

I'm not one to talk about commercials but this one is quite epic and features one of my favorite actors - Jason Bateman. In this unexpectedly entertaining commercial, Jason Bateman embarks on an evolutionary voyage through time, culminating in the debut of the Hyundai IONIQ 5.

Starting as a caveman the commercial weaves through pinnacle points in history including the Roman Empire, the middle ages, the victorian empire, the turn of the century, the 60s, the 80s, and then to the present day. I can only imagine the cost.

The IONIQ 5 features are totally electric inside and out, with optional two-way charging, an adjustable center console, and a spacious cabin. However, supplies are EXTREMELY LIMITED, to put it mildly.

According to a Hyundai spokesperson "The 2022 IONIQ 5 is only accessible in a few states and in extremely restricted quantities". The vehicle also features two-way (Bi-directional) charging

However when the battery discharge limit exceeds 20%, Hyundai warns that two-way charging will drain the battery and render it useless. Therefore, when employing this function, not all electrical equipment will work properly.

They also suggest that you do not make use of tools that require a constant power source and limit appliance use to 16 amps. In other words, use two-way charging sparingly. However, it is nice to have, and Tesla should consider unlocking this feature to its customers.

Tesla Model Y Takes the Crown According to Cars.com

The Tesla Model Y has been selected as the "Top Electric Vehicle of 2022" by Cars.com, beating out numerous great contenders to be crowned the year's best EV.

The Model Y is Tesla's most recent addition to its available car lineup, as well as the first all-electric crossover to leave the Fremont facility in Northern California. The Model Y was designed by Tesla to be a mass-market car capable of performing a range of activities. The vehicle is not only lightning quick in classic Tesla form, but it also has enough luggage room to make full-sized SUVs sweat. It is undoubtedly Tesla's most well-rounded vehicle, appropriate for practically any lifestyle and at a reasonable price.

"Tesla is an electric car innovator, and the Model Y shows that leadership with its efficiency, charging capabilities, range, and choices," according to Cars.com's Model Y summary. "It checks a lot of boxes for people who are thinking about making the switch to an EV."

Upon news of the Tesla Model Y receiving this award, we reached out to Elon Musk for comment and here was his response 😂 .

🔌Shameless plug

This one actually involves a plug of some sort 😁. In order for the mass adoption of EVs to occur, we have to First solve home Charging. FirstCharging believes that every house should have an EV charger, regardless of whether the homeowner can afford it. By removing the financial burden of purchasing a home charger, First Charging hopes to eliminate the largest barrier to EV adoption.

To that end, they are looking for a second batch of homeowners that meet certain criteria which will allow them to easily install one of these chargers with minimal cost. Now that's a very ambitious goal and I'm sure you've got questions. They've got answers here.
